Fredenburg, who has an 87-26 record and six playoff trips in 10 seasons as UMHB’s only head football coach, received the same award in 2000, 2002 and 2005. This year he has guided the Crusaders to a 12-1 record, their fifth American Southwest Conference championship and their second berth in the Division III national semifinals.
“It is quite an honor for our players and our assistant coaches to be recognized by this award,” said Fredenburg, whose team will play at Wisconsin-Whitewater on Saturday. “I represent them and it is obviously a tremendous honor for me to be named Regional Coach of the Year.
“These awards go to individuals, but there are so many people who are included in the achievements. I would really like to thank my staff and my players for all of their hard work to make honors like this possible."
