Little Joe nominated for Grammy again

He did it again.

Temple’s Little Joe Hernandez earned himself another Grammy nomination - his seventh.

Hernandez, 67, and his band, La Familia, received their latest Grammy nomination Thursday for best Tejano album. The nomination was for the group’s recording, “Before the Next Teardrop Falls.”

The Tejano musician won the same category in 2006 with his recording, “Chicanisimo” and for best Mexican-American recording in 1992 for “Diez y Seis de Septiembre.” He was nominated in the Mexican-American category in 1988 for “Timeless” and in 1994 for “Que Paso?” Hernandez and La Familia were nominated in 1999 for best Tejano recording for their album “2000” and in 2003 for “Celebration of Life - Volume One - Live.”

The Tejano category was created by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences after 1994.

Nominations for the 50th annual Grammy Awards were announced Thursday morning. The awards will be presented Feb. 10.

Other nominees in the Tejano category are “Ram Harrier and The Outlaw Band 2007” by Ram Harrier and The Outlaw Band, “Corrosion De Ro” by David Mares, “35th Anniversary” by Ruben Ramous and “Vaguer Libremente” by Sunny Sauceda.
