Vital, a senior and first-year starter, rushed for 1,474 yards without a fumble and scored 17 touchdowns in the regular season. He finished with more than 2,000 yards - including a school-record 324 in a playoff win over McKinney Boyd - to lead the Bulldawgs to their second straight Division I title game.
Mackey, a junior, did not surrender a sack and helped pave the way for an offense that averaged 283 rushing yards per game.
Senior Griffin, a Baylor commitment, completed 76 of 124 passes for 981 yards and rushed for 887 yards on 99 carries through the first 10 games. He was the leader of a Bulldawgs attack that averaged 390.7 yards per game.
Neal and Brock anchored a defense that allowed 256.6 yards and 15.5 points per game.
Running back Jacquizz Rodgers of Division I state champion Rosenberg Lamar Consolidated - a 20-14 winner over Cove - was named Offensive Player of the Year.
The 5-6 Rodgers, who has verbally committed to Oregon State, received more than double the votes of any other player nominated. He rushed for 2,391 yards and 29 touchdowns, setting the state record for career touchdowns with 136.
Nederland lineman Dravannti Johnson was named Defensive Player of the Year. He had 77 tackles and also was used at linebacker, defensive back, tight end and even quarterback this season.
Rodgers finished his career with 8,239 rushing yards, sixth-most in state history. His top blocker, lineman Pressley Goodson, was also a first-team selection.
Joining Rodgers and Goodson on the first team was Sulphur Springs quarterback Tyrik Rollison, who threw for 3,321 yards and 34 touchdowns. Austin Lake Travis’ Jason Bird and Lubbock Estacado’s Jeremy Watson were voted 4A’s top receivers.
New Braunfels, Everman and Wolfforth Frenship led the 4A team. Each school had three players as first- or second-team selections.
