Fulfilling a promise: The Mayborn Legacy guides newspaper

The Temple Daily Telegram moved into the Temple Opera House building in 1928. The building, which was located at 100 W. Ave. A in downtown Temple, housed a Goss Straightline Press capable of printing 25,000 copies of a 12-page paper per hour. The Telegram outgrew the Opera House and moved across 3rd Street to its current location in 1978. The above photograph was taken in 1954. (Telegram archive photo)
