ROCKDALE — Graveside services for Fred B. Wilson Sr., 86, of Lilac Community will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Lilac Cemetery in Lilac Community near Sharp with the Rev. Chip Palmer officiating.

Mr. Wilson died Wednesday at a Rockdale hospital.

He was born in Lilac Community in Milam County to J.W. Wilson and Hettie M. Lovelace Wilson. He lived most of his life in Lilac Community. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army in World War II from Jul. 25, 1944 to Feb. 6, 1946 serving in the Philippines. He was a self–employed mechanic and garage owner in San Gabriel for 65 years. He married Margaret L. Cowan on Aug. 14, 1941, in Odem. He was a member of San Gabriel Baptist Church in San Gabriel. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret L. Wilson on Aug. 23, 1988.

Survivors are two sons, Thomas N. Wilson of Pflugerville and Fred B. Wilson Jr. of Lilac; two daughters, Maxine L. Dodd of Pflugerville and Sarah M. Guthrie of Lilac Community; a brother, Kenneth D. Wilson of Ingleside; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the choice of the giver.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. today at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.
