MOODY — Services for Erma “Granny” Dowell, 93, of Moody will be 2 p.m. today at First Assembly of God Church in Moody with the Rev. Eddie Johnson and the Rev. Jon Gartman officiating.

Burial will follow in Moody Cemetery.

Mrs. Dowell died Monday, Jan. 28, in Temple.

She was born Oct. 1, 1914, in Troy to Bruce and Julia Elizabeth Fowler Porter. She received her education in Troy and Bruceville. In 1953 she moved from Sylvester to Moody where she spent much of her life as a homemaker. She was employed as a cook at Moody Care Center for six years. She married William Cecil Dowell on Jan. 4, 1930, in Moody. They were married 65 years until his death on Dec. 25, 1995. She was a member of Bethany Baptist Church in Eddy. She was also preceded in death by three sons, a daughter, Melva Ladean Lehmann and a granddaughter.

Survivors are three sons, Billy Bruce Dowell of Belton, Cecil Mack Dowell of Moody, Ronny Lynn Dowell of Moody; four daughters, Christell Brown of Belton, Shirley Ruth Pennington of Winton, N.C., Mary Ann Terry and Ona Neray Ragsdale, both of Imperial, Mo.; 40 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
