Temple (7-4), which posted its first perfect district record since 1985, had senior tackle Nasseri and sophomore running back Seastrunk on offense and senior rover Black on defense.
The 5-10, 280-pound Nasseri was the line’s leading blocker for the Wildcats’ Wing-T offense, which averaged 383.6 yards per game, including 322.1 rushing.
The primary beneficiary of Nasseri’s blocking was the speedy Seastrunk, who racked up 1,532 rushing yards and 19 touchdowns on 129 carries - an average of 11.9 yards per attempt. Ten of his scores came on runs of 45 yards or longer.
Seastrunk (5-11, 175), District 13-5A’s Newcomer of the Year, also received an honorable mention on the Associated Press Sports Editors 5A all-state squad.
Small at 5-7, 165 but fast and tough, Black was an opportunistic playmaker for the Temple defense. He made 115 tackles, including 46 unassisted, snared three interceptions and caused three fumbles.
Three players shared the TSWA 5A Offensive Player of the Year award - Southlake Carroll senior quarterback Riley Dodge and senior running backs Aundre Dean of Katy and Marcus Wright of San Antonio Reagan.
Tying for the Defensive Player of the Year honor were linebackers Spencer Reeves of Dallas Skyline and Chris Williams of Abilene.
Gary Joseph of undefeated Division II state champion Katy was voted Coach of the Year.
