Services for Bill Barnard, 89, of The Grove will be 10 a.m. today at Harper–Talasek Funeral Home in Temple with Chaplain Dar Evans officiating.
Burial will be in Bluffton Cemetery in Tow.
Mr. Barnard died Monday at his residence.
He was born March 25, 1918, in Comanche to Charles Preston and Nellie Ann Kemp Barnard. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. After his discharge from the Army he worked as a heavy equipment operator for ARMCO Steel in Houston until he retired. He was a member of the VFW in Marble Falls. He was a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Leda Bell Barnard, and a son, Donald Barnard.
Survivors include a son, William Gene Barnard of Comanche; a daughter, Nancy Kelley of Fort Worth; stepchildren Ray and Nancy Greenwood of The Grove, Fay Mills, and William Lee Greenwood of Gatesville; a sister, Merlene Welch of Waco; a brother, Luke Barnard of Comanche; 26 grandchildren; 16 great–grandchildren; and 18 great–great–grandchildren.
