TC baseball drops two more

BRENHAM - The Temple College Leopards fell to 1-9 with two more losses on Saturday.

The No. 26 Leopards had a close contest against Angelina but fell 5-4, then followed with a tough 8-0 loss to Navarro.

“We have no excuses, we are just struggling,” Temple coach Craig McMurtry said. “We just are not getting it done. It’s frustrating.”

The Leopards fought back from a 4-2 deficit against Angelina to tie the game in the sixth, but Angelina’s Chris Andreas ended it with a leadoff home run in the bottom of the seventh.

Navarro’s Jared Rogers threw a one-hitter in the second game.

“Their guy threw well and at times we didn’t have a good approach,” McMurtry said. “And we hit a lot of line drives right at people.”

Temple will be in Austin to play Concordia Texas’ junior varsity on Monday.

“We just have to keep working,” McMurtry said. “That’s the only way to get out of it. The positive is that none of these games count in the conference race, but they still are losses and you don’t want to get in a mood where you get used to losing.”
