John Leisen was struck by equipment operated by an employee of a private contractor on the site at 706 Landfill Road, according to Sgt. Allen Teston, Temple police department public information officer.
Temple Fire and Rescue and police received the call at 12:44 p.m. about a fatal industrial accident. Fire and Rescue was on the scene within minutes, records indicate.
Police closed off the entrance of the landfill and only allowed trash trucks onto the site while police investigated.
Justice of the Peace David R. Barfield requested an autopsy and the body was sent to the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas.
