Temple mustered only two hits, and College Station A&M Consolidated made the most of its chances to post a 4-0 victory Friday night.
The Wildcats (5-10, 0-2 District 13-5A), who also were shut out by Bryan in Tuesday’s district opener, struck out 12 times against Tigers starter Will Bathe (2-1) and twice against seventh-inning reliever Chase McDowell.
Temple starter Kevin Lock (1-2) and reliever Kelley Cast, who came on in the sixth, gave up a total of only five hits.
Consol (9-7, 2-0) went up 3-0 in the second inning when they scored two runs without a hit, cashing in on three walks, a wild pitch, a passed ball and a balk.
Next up for Temple is a game against rival Belton. The Wildcats will host the Tigers (15-1, 2-0) at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Hallford Field.
