Services for Joe J. Petru, 83, of Belton will be held at a later date.

Mr. Petru died Thursday in a Temple hospital.

He was born Sept. 18, 1924 to Albin and Francis Janek Petru in Milam County. A Bell County resident since 1986, he lived in Beaumont and Cameron for several years. He was an U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a retired truck driver for the Exxon Petroleum Corporation. He was Catholic. He was preceded in death by his wife, Leona Marie Petru on Oct. 14, 2006.

Survivors include two sons, John Petru of Troy and Ed Petru of Morgan’s Point; a daughter, Marsha White of Heidenheimer; a sister, Rose Senkel of Morgan’s Point; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Harper-Talasek Funeral Home of Temple is in charge of arrangements.
