Inclement weather halts area schedule; Temple-Belton baseball tonight

Inclement weather that passed through the area Tuesday threw the local sports schedule a curveball.

Several area baseball and softball games were postponed because of rain and the threat of severe weather.

Temple and Belton’s rivalry showdown in District 13-5A baseball at the Wildcats’ Hallford Field was postponed to 7 p.m. today. Because the Wildcats and the Tigers have regularly scheduled games Thursday, they will push their duel to Friday if bad weather postpones tonight’s game.

Also in high school baseball, all District 25-2A games were postponed to today. Salado will host Florence at 5 p.m., Troy will host Rosebud-Lott at 6, Rogers will host Jarrell at 7 and Academy will play at Lago Vista at 7.

Temple College’s baseball team was scheduled to play Hill today in Hillsboro, but that Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference doubleheader has been moved to 2 p.m. today at TC. The teams’ Friday doubleheader was switched to Hillsboro.

Also, Mary Hardin-Baylor’s baseball game against Texas Wesleyan in Fort Worth was rescheduled for 3 p.m. on March 31. The Crusaders’ next action will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the opener of an American Southwest Conference West Division three-game series against McMurry in Belton.

In softball, Belton’s 13-5A home game against Killeen Shoemaker was postponed to 6:30 p.m. today.
