The NBA’s defending champions remained second in the Western Conference, percentage points behind the New Orleans Hornets. The Warriors, in a three-way race with the Dallas Mavericks and the Denver Nuggets for the final two playoff spots, dropped their 20th straight in San Antonio since the Spurs drafted Tim Duncan in 1997.
Duncan added 17 points and 12 rebounds and Manu Ginobili scored 16 points.
Baron Davis led the Warriors with 19 points and Monta Ellis added 14 in a game the Spurs controlled. Golden State will play at Dallas tonight.
The Warriors shot 37.5 percent to the Spurs’ 55 percent. San Antonio had the advantage in rebounding (54-37) and assists (25-8) and limited the high-scoring Warriors.
Parker, with his floating jumpers and deft layups, and Duncan paced a 20-8 run in the second quarter that took the Spurs from tied at 40 to a 60-48 lead with less than a minute to play in the half.
The Warriors got as close as 67-63 in the third when Stephen Jackson hit a 3 with 6:19 to go. It was only his second basket of the night.
Ellis got the Warriors within two before the Spurs went on an 11-0 run to close the quarter - again highlighted by Parker and back-to-back 3s from the corner from Bruce Bowen - to put them up 86-73 with a quarter to play.
The Warriors might see Dirk Nowitzki tonight after the Mavs upgraded him to day-to-day. He sprained his left ankle and knee March 23.
