SALADO - Playing on their home course and anchored by the O’Rear tandem, Salado’s boys and girls pulled away from the field at Mill Creek Golf Club on their way to winning both team titles at the District 25-2A Tournament on Wednesday.

The top two teams and top two other individuals qualified for the Class 2A Region IV Tournament April 21-22 at Quail Creek Country Club in San Marcos.

Junior Ryan O’Rear - the defending 2A state champion - closed with a 67 for a two-round total of 6-under-par 137 to win the boys individual title. His sister, freshman Taylor O’Rear, posted an 86 to claim the girls title with a 177.

The Eagles closed with a 306 for a two-round total of 617 and an 82-stroke victory over runner-up Lago Vista (359-699). Rosebud-Lott (385-770) was third, followed by Academy (384-789), Troy (377-790), Rogers (398-838) and Salado II (432-848).

Corey Murray (91-184) of Rogers and Colby Montgomery (93-182) of Salado II advanced as medalists.

The Lady Eagles (414-812) posted a 57-stroke victory over Lago Vista (419-869). Rogers (459-915) was third followed by Troy (451-935), Lago Vista II (460-952) and Rosebud-Lott (522-1,021).

Salado’s Haley Kemp (99-194), playing as a medalist, and Troy’s Alyssa Geiger (101-204) advanced as individuals.
