ROCKDALE — Services for Minnie Cortez, 84, of Rockdale will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rockdale with the Rev. Gregory Hanks officiating.

Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery in Rockdale.

Mrs. Cortez died Tuesday, April 15, in a Rockdale hospital.

She was born April 25, 1923, in Bastrop County. She was a housekeeper for Manor Oaks Nursing Home and Boswells Rest Home in Rockdale. She retired in 1986. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Rockdale.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Joann Cruz, Sept. 5, 1993; a son, Frank Cortez Galban, May 5, 1982; and a granddaughter.

Survivors include three sons, Gilbert Cortez of The Woodlands, Phillip Cortez of Rockdale, and Nick Cortez of Madisonville; two daughters, Virginia Moreno and Minnie Cortez, both of Rockdale; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. with a rosary at 6 p.m. today at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.
