TC’s board has met with Dr. John H. Anthony, a search consultant with Executive Resources Consulting Service, to outline what the search to replace Dr. Marc Nigliazzo will entail.
Nigliazzo announced in February he would take a vice president position at the University of New Mexico, where he will start June 1.
Anthony served as president of Collin County Community College from 1985 to 2000. His firm, based in McKinney, in the past couple of years has conducted presidential searches for North Harris College in Houston and Coastal Bend College in Corpus Christi.
The first step in the search will be assessing the position.
The search firm plans to meet with faculty and community members to determine what traits will be required of a TC president candidate, said Susan Howe, director of college communication.
Step two will be to prepare the material and advertise the position. The national search will emphasize the need for candidates to be familiar with Texas community colleges.
“We’ll develop a brochure outlining the position and telling something about the community and the college,” Ms. Howe said.
Anthony told the board the company also will recruit from its personal contacts.
The process will take about 10 weeks. Following that, a screening committee, made up of about 10 people from TC faculty and staff and individuals from the community, will get involved.
“Temple College is embraced by this community,” said Jack Jones, TC board president. “It’s essential that we include the community in this process, and we’ll have to balance the internal and external makeup of committee.”
The screening committee will select a group of semi-finalists who will be presented to the board.
The board will select three to five finalists who will then be invited to visit the campus, interview with the board and meet with faculty and staff.
The finalists’ names will be made public, according to Ms. Howe.
The tentative timetable calls for someone to be in place by the beginning of the fall semester.
