Temple College has an opportunity to overtake Weatherford for second place in the conference baseball standings in the teams’ four-game series this week, beginning with their 3 p.m. doubleheader today at Danny Scott Sports Complex.

Daniel Meadows (3-3) and Courtney Behrend (4-0) are the scheduled starting pitchers for third-place TC (23-18), which is 11-9 in the Northern Texas Junior College Athletic Conference. The Leopards, who had their conference bye last week, are on a seven-game winning streak following a seven-game league skid.

Temple’s offense is paced by Nick Anders (.431 batting average, six home runs, 28 runs batted in), Mike Lowery (.430), Michael DeLaRosa (.393, five homers), Will Sandifer (.367, five homers, 27 RBI) and Garrett Bivone (four homers, 28 RBI).

Weatherford’s Coyotes (29-11, 12-8) are led by sophomore outfielder Steven Sultzbaugh, a Rice signee who’s batting .514 with 61 RBI.
