Guillen has been associated with the Temple College Golf Course for over 30 years. He worked as the full-time golf pro from 1976 until 1997, then remained in the role on a part-time basis until 2006.
He also taught junior golf clinics and continuing education golf courses at Temple College.
Guillen began his career in golf at Corsicana Country Club as a caddy and ground attendant.
He was a member of the Pan American Golf. He was preceded in death by his wife Veda Guillen on Sept. 11, 1987.
Survivors include three sons, Larry Guillen of Phoenix, Roland Guillen and Gill “Bo” Guillen, both of Temple; a daughter, Diane Guillen Starnes of Austin; three brothers, Lee Guillen of Corsicana, John Guillen and Fred Guillen, both of Temple; a sister, Dominga Martinez of Lorena; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
His son Roland has followed his path, currently running the course at Temple College.
Services will be 10 a.m. today at St. Mary Catholic Church with the Rev. Tom Chamberlain officiating.
Burial will follow in Bellwood Memorial Park.
Harper-Talasek Funeral Home in Temple is in charge of arrangements.
