Don Quixote (James Svetlik) tells Dulcinea (Tina Kirby) about his impossible dream in “Man of La Mancha.” Svetlik received the best actor award at the Class 2A UIL One-Act Play state contest in Austin on Friday. Miss Kirby was named to the state all-star cast.
Rogers High School’s one-act play “Man of La Mancha” won the UIL Class 2A state championship Friday on the University of Texas campus in Austin.

James Svetlik won best actor in state and Tina Kirby was named to the state all-star cast. Andrew Kotrla was named to the state honorable mention all-star cast.

“The judge said we were just a great ensemble,” said Robert Chappell, RHS principal. “He said we had no real weaknesses and was very complimentary.”

Rogers won the state contest in 2002 and 2005, placed second in 2004 and was a finalist in 2003.
