On Wednesday, both parties said they got what they were looking for.
Rodeffer has been named as UMHB’s men’s golf coach and will make the jump from Temple High School to NCAA Division III officially on July 1.
After serving as Temple’s boys coach the past five years - the last two of which he also served as the girls coach - Rodeffer will replace Randy Mann, who guided the Crusaders to next week’s D-III national tournament and will move into a new role as UMHB’s associate director of athletics in June.
“I feel very lucky and fortunate to be able to join the staff at UMHB,” Rodeffer said. “I hold Randy Mann in the highest regard and what he’s been able to accomplish in his nine years there. I look forward to the opportunity to continue what he’s been able to build, and the opportunity to coach in the college ranks is a dream come true for me.”
Rodeffer, who started his career with a six-year stint as boys and girls coach at Killeen Ellison, has sent a total of nine individuals to regional tournaments and guided the Wildcats to a regional berth two years ago.
“We are pleased and excited about the addition of Aaron to our staff,” UMHB vice-president for athletics Ben Shipp said. “I feel he is the type of person and professional that can continue and expand the success we’ve experienced with our men’s golf program.”
Rodeffer is a 1996 graduate of Washington State University. He and his wife, Megan, have two children, Molly and Brandt.
