Graveside services for Lucille W. Posey, 92, of Lufkin, formerly of Temple will be 10 a.m. Tuesday in Bellwood Memorial Park with the Rev. Martin Knox officiating.

Mrs. Posey died Thursday, May 8, in a Lufkin hospital.

She was born Dec. 10, 1915, to Franklin Whiteley and Alta Mae Hubbell Whiteley in Temple, Okla. She married George W. Posey Jr. on April 18, 1941. She attended the Scott & White School of Nursing and graduated in 1939. She began her career at Scott & White in 1953, serving in numerous supervisory positions throughout the hospital. She was a resident of Temple during 1953-2000, also living in West Point and Lufkin. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Temple, of City Federation of Women’s Clubs and Temple Book Review Club. Her daughter, Linda Van Wart preceded her in death in December 2006.

Survivors include a son, Bob Posey of Temple; a daughter, Debra Arnold of Lufkin; two brothers, Ralph Whiteley and Louis Whiteley, both of Lawton, Okla.; a sister, Mildred Whiteley of Lawton, Okla.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Monday at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home in Temple.
