“It’s going to be extremely hot,” he said. “It’s called compressional heat.”
A front is pushing through the area and putting pressure on the atmosphere. That extra push, along with winds from the south, causes a release of energy and therefore an expulsion of heat, he said.

“By the middle of the week, the front should have gone as far as it’s going to go and we’ll see seasonal norms in the upper 80s,” Andersen said. “It won’t really be any cooler, but not at all record levels.”
Andersen had a few tips for those venturing out into the hot weather.

-Drink plenty of fluids like water and sports drinks.
-Avoid dehydrating alcoholic beverages.
-Take breaks from the heat and find air conditioning.
