Sophomore outfielder Joseph Villegas was named to the American Baseball Coaches Association All-American Team after a season in which he led the Crusaders in several offensive categories.
Villegas, a sophomore out of Buda Hays, was an ABCA third-team selection after batting .427 and setting a UMHB single-season record with seven triples.
He added 21 doubles and eight home runs, and he drove in 44 runs. He was 12-for-12 in stolen base attempts and posted team-highs of 73 hits, 55 runs and a slugging percentage of .772.
It was the third honor of the season for Villegas, who earned first-team All-American Southwest Conference West Division honors and was a first-team pick on the ABCA All-West Region Team.
UMHB (28-12) won a share of the ASC West title for the first time in school history and advanced to the conference tournament for the second consecutive year.
