BELTON — Memorial services for Charlie M. Connally, 84, of Belton will be 9 a.m.–1 p.m. Saturday, June 7, at 2314 S. Wall Street in.
His artwork will be on display.
The body will be cremated.
Mr. Connally died Friday, May 30, in a local hospital.
He was born Jan. 15, 1924, to the late George Washington and Lena Crocker Connally in Bell County. He spent his life in Bell County and was educated locally. He married Bobbie Nell Anderson on Dec. 23, 1950. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corp and the 8th Air Force in England in World War II. Sgt. Connally was stationed in England and was a gunner and radio operator on a B24 Liberator bomber, having made 35 missions over Germany. During his military career he was awarded numerous medals including the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters. He returned to his employment with the State Highway Department and retired after 35 years. He was also a retired Engineer for the City of Temple. He was a past member of the Bell Fine Arts Association of Belton and a Cen-Tex Woodcarver. He was a member of Riverbend Church of Austin.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years of Belton; a son, Ted Connally of Belton; three daughters, Susan Neal of Pendleton, Peggy Connally of Paradise and Jackie Connally of Albuquerque, N.M.; and two grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Celiac Sprue Association of America or the American Heart Association.
