More than 200 women and 26 vendors from throughout Bell County as well as Houston, Dallas, Bryan-College Station and Waco are expected for the daylong conference, featuring motivational speakers, exhibits, networking and educational opportunities.
Sponsored by the Central Texas Area Council of the American Business Women’s Association, the leadership conference, titled “Share the Power,” is designed to give businesswomen of diverse careers and backgrounds with workshops on leadership, education and networking. The conference is open to anyone interested in career advancement. Now in its 13th year, the conference “keeps getting bigger and bigger,” said Amanda Krcha, steering committee member. “The speakers are top-notch and well-respected in their fields. Usually, we’d have to travel a long distance to hear them, but the conference is bringing them here,” she added. “The conference also encourages businesswomen to network with other successful businesswomen in their area.”
Members of the following chapters are combining time and talents to plan the program: Bell of Temple; Chisholm Trail of Salado; Dynamis, Globe and Heart of Texas Prime Time, all of Killeen; Red Poppy of Georgetown; Double R Charter of Round Rock; and the Women of Waco Express Network.
Two keynote speakers for the general sessions will be Pauline Shirley of Richardson, president of Leaders on Fire! and partner and principal of Entrepreneur Leadership Center, and Lina Lawson of Bryan, ABWA national president 2007-2008. Ms. Shirley will speak on “Life is Just a Bowl of Choices,” urging women to find their self-worth and to make wise choices.
