Matthew Rios, 4, of Comanche Child Development Center makes a toot sound as a model engine chugs past during a tour at the Railroad and Heritage Museum in Temple. The children of Fort Hood soldiers who are in Iraq came to the Santa Fe Depot on Friday as part of the summer activities of the Fort Hood Child Development Center and Family Child Center. The children range in ages from 2 to 12. The two centers brought 100 children and adults to the museum for a tour about railroads and how communities were established around the railroad. The Railroad and Heritage Museum hosts educational tours and events for pre-K and elementary school-aged children during the summer and school year. Call 254-298-5172 to schedule a tour.
