KILLEEN — Mr. Max J. Prentice, 70, of Harker Heights died Wednesday, July 2, in Killeen.
Services will be 9:30 a.m. Friday at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home of Killeen with the Rev. Jim McClurg officiating.
Burial will follow in Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.
Mr. Prentice was born April 27, 1938, in Spencer, Ind. He retired as a sergeant first class. His military awards include the National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Service Medal w/2 Bronze Service Stars; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 Device; Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry w/Palm; Meritorious Unit Commendation; Army Commendation Medal; and Good Conduct Medal Clasp, Silver Loop. He was a Life Member of DAV. He coached youth baseball, basketball and football for the city of Copperas Cove for 10 years. He had lived in the community since 1972. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Harker Heights.
Survivors include his wife Margie Prentice; three sons, Mark, Melvin and Mitch Prentice; three sisters, and five grandchildren.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
