BYRAM, MISS. — Services for Katie Jean Hanna Towsend, 81, of Belton will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram, Miss.
Burial will follow in Lakewood Memorial Park South.
Mrs. Townsend died Friday, July 4, at a local nursing home.
She was born Dec. 2, 1926, in Hampton, Ark. She graduated from El Dorado High School and worked for Pan American Oil Co. She married William Rex Towsend in El Dorado, Ark., in 1949. She was a homemaker and lived nearly 40 years in Jackson, Miss. She moved to Belton in 2006. She was an active member of Daniel Memorial Baptist Church of Jackson, Miss., where she taught Sunday school, was active in the WMU, served on numerous committees, and volunteered for several years as an office worker. She was preceded in death by her husband.
Survivors include her son, Bill Townsend of Temple; and two grandchildren.
