LAMPASAS — Services for James Smith Underwood, 77, of Lampasas will be 10 a.m. Monday at Sneed Funeral Chapel in Lampasas.

Burial will follow in Center Cemetery in Lometa.

He died Wednesday, July 9, at his home.

He was born Dec. 15, 1930, to Mary and Jack Underwood at their home in Lometa. He graduated from Lometa High School and from the University of Texas with a degree in mechanical engineering in 1959. He co-founded an engineering firm in Houston. In November 1961, he married Sondra Towns. He retired from Key Engineering, then consulted for Expro Americas.

Survivors include two sons, Kent and Clay; a daughter, Jana; and two grandchildren.
