Felda Merle Swanzy, 86, of Temple died Tuesday, July 15, in a Temple nursing home.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home of Temple with the Rev. Jack T. Riley officiating.

Burial will be at Holland Cemetery.

Mrs. Swanzy was born Dec. 22, 1921, in Holland to John Behrns Peddie and Felda Maude Thompson Peddie. She was raised and educated in Holland, where she graduated from high school. She was a longtime employee at the Montgomery Ward in Temple, retiring in 1993 shortly before they closed. She married John Thomas Swanzy on Oct. 22, 1941, in Cameron.

She was preceded in death by her husband on Feb. 24, 1982, and a daughter, Felda Jane Webb, on Jan. 30, 1973.

Survivors are a son, Chris B. Swanzy of Temple, six grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
