Services for Dorothy Lorene Anderson, 79, of Granbury, formerly of Temple will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Western Hills Church of Christ with Scott Meyer officiating.
Burial will be in Bellwood Memorial Park.
Mrs. Anderson died Sunday, July 20, in a Granbury nursing center.
She was born in the Elijah Community near Killeen (now Fort Hood Reservation) to James Madison Manning and Annie Lou Sandlin Manning. She married Herman R. Anderson Dec. 23, 1955 in Temple and he preceded her in death Oct. 26, 1987. She graduated from Abilene Christian University with a bachelor’s in education. She retired after more than 26 years with the Temple I.S.D. also having taught in Star, Killeen and Granbury. She was a longtime member of Western Hills Church of Christ, as well as, Scott & White Hospital Auxiliary. She was the memorial chairman of the American Cancer Society-Bell County Unit and was a member of the Love of Christ Center.
Survivors include two sons, Brad S. Anderson of Granbury and Barry G. Anderson of Austin; a sister, Nelda Jeske of Stephenville; a brother, Tilmon Kirby of Temple; two granddaughters; and a great-grandchild.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to the Cherokee Children’s Home, P.O. Box 295, Cherokee, 76832.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home in Temple.
