Fern H. Hallbauer

Services for Fern Harlan Hallbauer, 88, of Belton will be at 10 a.m. Friday at First Christian Church in Temple with the Dr. Jerry Kirkpatrick the Rev. Deborah Jones and the Rev. And Schmidt officiating.

Burial will be in Bellwood Memorial Park.

She died Monday, July 21, in a Temple hospital.

She was born Nov. 6, 1919, in Welch, Okla., to Frank and Ona Flatt Harlan. She attended high school and was a cheerleader at Neodesha High School. She married Alvin Oren Hallbauer on March 28, 1937. The lived in Neodesha, Kan., Hobbs, N.M., Brownfield and moved to Belton in 1962. She was a member of the Disciples of Christ Church and was also a member of First Christian Church in Temple, where she taught Sunday School and served in several other capacities.

She was preceded in death by her husband and one great-grandchild.

Survivors are two sons, Leslie and Allen Hallbauer; a daughter, Celinda Hallbauer Hirschmann of Belton; a sister, Joan Harlan Bowen of Waco; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Christian Church, 300 N. Fifth St., Temple 76501; the John Burton Messer III endowment fund at Scott & White Children’s Hospital; Texas Exes, P.O. Box 7278, Austin, 78713; Music Teachers National Association, 441 Vine Street, Suite 505, Cincinnati, Ohio, 45202; or to the Texas Music Teachers Association, 1106 Clayton Lane, Suite 240W, Austin, 78723.

Visitation is 5-7 p.m. Thursday at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home in Temple.
