Services for Dorothy June Rickard, 81, of Temple will be 9 a.m. Saturday at Christ Episcopal Church in Temple with the Rev. David Alwine officiating.

Burial will follow in Bellwood Memorial Park.

She died Tuesday, July 22, in a local nursing home.

She was born July 25, 1926, to Carl and Mattie Braziel Wilson in San Angelo. She was a 1943 graduate of San Angelo Central High School and was a 1948 graduate of San Angelo State University. She married Joe Rickard on May 29, 1948. They moved to Temple in 1955. She was active in the McCloskey Women’s Club and the City Federation of Women’s Clubs and was active in TISD as a room mother, PTA President and was a Temple school board member, 1976-1983. She was a 30-year member of the Christ Episcopal Church in Temple, serving in The Second Look Gift Shop. She was a piano teacher.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years of Temple; five children, Miles Rickard of Boerne, Jan Melby of Bixby, Okla., Bob Rickard of Jasper, Martha Young of Carrollton and Sarah Munro of Calgary, Alberta Canada; two brothers, R.A. Wilson of Seattle and Clayton Wilson of Reno, Nev.; a sister, Eunice Frazier of Rockdale; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and 20 step-great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Christ Episcopal Church, 300 North Main Street, Temple, Texas 76501 or to the charity of your choice.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. today at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home in Temple.
