Services for Max Stanley Winkler, 63, of The Grove will be 11 a.m. Monday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in The Grove with the Rev. John Heckmann officiating.
Burial will follow in Bellwood Memorial Park.
He died Friday, July 25, at his home.
He was born Dec. 23, 1944, to Elmo Winkler Sr. and Mamie Schkade Winkler. He was a lifelong resident of The Grove. He graduated from Belton High School and attended Tarleton State University in Stephenville. He married Miriam Draeger on June 4, 1966. He was a rancher. He retired from Sears after 34 years of service as a technician and technician manager; he then started Winkler Trucking. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, where he served as an elder and president of the congregation. He served on the board of The Grove Water Supply Corp., The Grove Volunteer Fire Department and The Grove Community Center.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Steve Winkler; a daughter, Stephanie Sohns; two brothers, Elmo Winkler Jr. and Glenn Winkler, all of The Grove; and two grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the St. Paul Lutheran Church Refurbishing Fund.
Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. today at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home in Temple.
