William Jacobsen, 31, and his common-law wife Marilyn Wesson, 57, fled the area on June 21, four days before a warrant was issued charging Jacobsen with aggravated sexual assault of a child.
A felony warrant was issued for Ms. Wesson on July 17 for hindering apprehension. Law enforcement officials believe she is willfully assisting Jacobsen in his flight from custody.
In late June, investigators believed the couple was in the Houston-Galveston area, a press release said.
Now investigators have evidence the couple is in Mexico.
Investigators say they have a video recording from July 1 that shows Ms. Wesson inside a pawnshop in Laredo. In the video Ms. Wesson is wearing sunglasses and appears to have cut and colored her hair.
A separate video from the same day shows the couple’s green 1996 Ford Explorer at the Laredo-Mexico border.
The couple may be traveling with their mixed breed dog named Shasta, the release said.
The investigation into Jacobsen’s conduct came about after a 13-year-old boy was examined at Scott & White Memorial Hospital on June 10 and reportedly told authorities that Jacobsen had sexually assaulted him. Media reports spurred at least three other children to come forward alleging abuse by Jacobsen, according to officials.
During the investigation, Jacobsen was relieved of his duties as a coach. He previously was dismissed from the volunteer fire department in Little River-Academy on an unrelated issue.
Jacobsen lived on County Line Road near Rogers and had only been in the area for about a year.
Aggravated sexual assault of a child is a first-degree felony that carries a punishment of five years to life in prison.
