GATESVILLE – Graveside services for Morris Scruggs, 63, of Gatesville will be 10 a.m. Friday in Ater Cemetery near Levita with Chaplain Doug Cobb officiating.

Mr. Scruggs died Tuesday, Aug 5, at his home.

He was born Feb. 19, 1945, to the late Ray Allen and Gussie Branch Scruggs in Bryan. He attended schools in Gatesville and graduated from Gatesville High School. He also attended Tarleton State University. He served in the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged in 1969. He was a cattle rancher. He worked for the Gatesville State School for Boys. He retired after 20 years of service at Fort Hood. He was preceded in death by a son, James Richard Scruggs.

Survivors include his wife, Frances Scruggs of Gatesville; four sons, Danny Scruggs, Rockie Jones, Charles Redden and Dennis Redden, all of Gatesville; two daughters, Cathy Bland of Belton and Sandra Loeker of Huntsville; 10 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren.
