KILLEEN — Services for the Rev. Charles H. Deaton, 77, of Copperas Cove will be 9 a.m. Friday at Victory Baptist Church in Copperas Cove with the Rev. Mickey Robinson officiating.

Burial will follow in Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen.

The Rev. Deaton died Saturday, Aug. 2, in a local nursing home.

He was born July 6, 1931, in Raleigh, N.C. He was raised and educated in Raleigh. He married Ruby J. Deaton. He served in the U.S. Air Force, 1955 to 1963, and received the Good Conduct Medal and the Air Force Longevity Service Award. He was a member of the Civil Air Patrol and the National Rifle Association. He was preceded in death by his wife on July 25, 2008.

Survivors include three sons, Timothy Deaton, Daniel Deaton and Andrew Deaton; a daughter, Elizabeth Deaton Harnett; a sister, Anne D. Fox; and eight grandchildren.

Killeen Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
