Jacobsen, a former Little River-Academy volunteer firefighter and youth baseball coach, came to the attention of authorities on June 10 when they were called by Scott & White Memorial Hospital after a 13-year-old boy made an outcry. Since then three other boys have come forward.
After lengthy surveillance by police in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico, Jacobsen, 31, and 57-year-old Wesson were arrested while walking their dog, Bell County Sheriff Dan Smith said in a press release on Saturday.
Both were transported to the International Bridge in Laredo, where they were released to U.S. authorities and transferred to Webb County Jail in Laredo, Smith said.
Law enforcement officials say Jacobsen and his wife left the area on June 21, four days before a warrant was issued charging him with aggravated sexual assault of a child. The first-degree felony crime carries a penalty of five years to life in prison.
U.S. Marshals have charged the pair with interstate flight to avoid prosecution, Smith said.
Both will be transferred to Bell County later this week.
