COPPERAS COVE — Services for Carlos E. Rodriguez, 69, of Copperas Cove will be 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the First Baptist Church in Copperas Cove with Dr. Mark Kemp officiating.

Burial will follow in Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen with full military honors.

Mr. Rodriguez died Friday, Aug. 8, in a Temple hospital.

He was born July 4, 1939, to Felix Rodriguez and Maria Roman Rodriguez in Aguas Buenas, Puerto Rico. He served in the U.S. Army, 1964-1985, retiring as a sergeant first class. His medals include: the Army Commendation Medal with “V” Device; the Army Good Conduct Medal with one silver loop; the National Defense Service Medal; the Army Service Ribbon; the Overseas Service Ribbon (Numeral 2); the Vietnam Service Medal with three Bronze Stars; the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 devices; the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry with Palm; the NCO Professional Development Ribbon (Numeral 3); the Combat Medical Badge; Expert (rifle); the Aircraft Crewman Badge (driver badge); and the Meritorious Service Medal.

After retiring, he worked for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice as a health instructor and later as a correctional officer, retiring from the State of Texas. He volunteered at the HOPE Pregnancy Center, the Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery in Killeen and was a funeral attendant for Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Copperas Cove. He was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Copperas Cove, where he served as a Deacon and many mission trips.

Survivors include his wife, Catalina “Cathy” Rodriguez of Copperas Cove; a son, Andre Rodriguez of Waynesville, N.C.; a daughter, Annemarie Victory of Copperas Cove; 11 brothers and sisters; and two grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the HOPE Pregnancy Center, 601 S. Main St., Copperas Cove, 76522.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Monday at Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Copperas Cove.
