Services for Rowena Howard, 94, of Belton will be 11:30 a.m. today in Oak Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Theiss Jones officiating.

Mrs. Howard died Sunday, Aug. 10, in a Belton nursing center.

She was born Mar. 30, 1914, in Rosebud to Marcus Tillman and Minnie Ola Murphy Burkes. She was a graduate of Waco High School. She married J. Max Howard on Sept. 12, 1935, and he preceded her in death Dec. 1, 2007. They lived in Marlin for a short time, then moving to Cameron. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cameron where she taught a class of 16-year-old girls for many years. They moved to Waco where she was a member of Columbus Ave. Baptist Church and then to Temple where she was a member of the First Baptist Church of Temple. She was preceded in death by two sons, Marcus Dwain Howard and Dan Larry Howard.

Survivors include a son, Don Max Howard of Duncanville; a daughter, Betty Diane Semple of Highlands Ranch, Colo.; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Arrangements are being handled by Scanio-Harper Funeral Home of Temple.
