The Lady Tigers were swept by Round Rock Stony Point 25-22, 25-19, 25-17 Tuesday night, spoiling Patton’s debut as a head coach.
Stony Point’s quickness and outstanding serving kept Belton on its heels throughout the match. Senior outside hitter Becca Owen led the Lady Tigers with eight kills while senior setter Myca San Miguel had 17 set assists and a surprising five blocks. Owen, San Miguel and sophomore Amber Peters had five digs each.
“We started the match kind of timid and nervous,” Patton said. “We weren’t in control. The other team gave it right back to us every time we thought we had a kill. We need to work on our defense and confidence. Hopefully we’re over the nervousness and won't be flustered.”
Belton plays at 12:45 p.m. Friday at the Wimberley Tournament.
