ROCKDALE — Bessie Irma Wenzel, 89, of Rockdale died Friday, Aug. 15, in a local nursing home.

Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with the Rev. Jan Campbell officiating.

Burial will follow in I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rockdale.

Mrs. Wenzel was born Jan. 6, 1919, to Charlie Doss Jr. and Erma Stork Doss in Bushdale Community near Rockdale. She was a lifelong resident of Rockdale. She married Paul Alfred Wenzel on April 14, 1938, in Rockdale. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Rockdale. She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years on Oct. 31, 1976; and a grandson.

Survivors include a son, Leon Wenzel of League City; two daughters, Joeva Powell and Lavada Yoakum, both of Rockdale; a sister, Margie Clark of Rockdale; a half-sister, Irma Doss of Rockdale; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
