COPPERAS COVE — Services for Arlene Clair Shaffstall, 84, of Copperas Cove will be 9 a.m. Tuesday at Sheppard Funeral Home in Copperas Cove with Dr. Mark Kemp officiating.

Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio.

Mrs. Shaffstall died Friday, Aug. 15, in a local nursing home.

She was born May 20, 1924, to Clarence Cayou and Naomi Cayou in Wray, Colo. She married Noel Freeman Shaffstall on June 5, 1972, in Uvalde. She was a homemaker and worked as a medical assistant. She was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She volunteered for many organizations and was a member of the Medical Assistant Association. She was preceded in death by her husband of 35 years on Oct. 14, 2007.

Survivors include two daughters, Patsy Palmer of Copperas Cove and LaRue Briggs of Boise, Idaho; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
