Services for James P. Anderson, 88, of Temple will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home in Temple with Chaplain Ralph McCulloh officiating.
Burial will follow in Davilla Cemetery with military honors.
Mr. Anderson died Saturday, Aug. 16, in a Temple nursing home.
He was born May 5, 1920, to Edward Anderson and Marie Brown Anderson in Evening Shade, Ark. He joined the U.S. Army Air Corp and then the U.S. Air Force. Upon retiring from the U.S. Air Force he worked for the Texas Employment Commission and in sales. He moved to Davilla about 30 years ago. He married Freida Gilleland on Feb 14, 1981. He was a member on First Presbyterian Church in Temple and the National Rifle Association. He was preceded in death by his wife of 27 years on May 12, 2008.
Survivors include three daughters, Mary Anderson and Debbie Jones, both of Robinson and Andrea Carter of Waco; two brothers, Richard Anderson of Davilla and Gilbert Anderson of Irving; three sisters, Dawn Wagner of Bryan, Audrey Guyellerscog of Salt Lake City, Utah and June Horne of Newport, Ark.; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
