Services for Frederick G. Melcher, 89, of Temple will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church with the Rev. Wilbern Michalk officiating.
Burial will follow in Bellwood Memorial Park.
Mr. Melcher died Sunday, Aug 17, in a Temple hospital.
He was born July 6, 1919, to John Melcher and Dora Wolfe Melcher in Fedor. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Lorine Schneider in January 1947. He moved to Temple in 1955 and worked as a welder and in maintenance at American Desk. He also worked as a farmer and in highway construction. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years of Temple; two sons, Ernest Melcher of Thorndale and Michael Melcher of Temple; four daughters, Lucille Decker of Holland, Joyce Coufal of Moffat, Shirley Zelisko of Temple and Janet Lesikar of Rogers; two brothers, Ludwig Melcher of Houston and John Melcher Jr. of Lincoln; two sisters, Louise Beran of Mart and Tillie Hanusch of Temple; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Scanio-Harper Funeral Home in Temple.
