Half inch brings rain total to near 3 inches

The close to a half inch of rain that fell Tuesday morning in parts of Temple brought the total amount of rainfall over the past couple of days to nearly 3 inches in an area parched from dry weather.

According to TempleWeather.net, Temple received 2.33 inches of rain on Monday, bringing the total amount of rain this year to 19.06 inches.

Normal year-to-date rainfall average for Temple is 21.30 inches, according to AccuWeather.

The chance of rain today stands at 40 percent, dropping to 20 percent on Thursday, according to KCEN-TV.

The overcast skies continued the reprieve from typical August temperatures, which had exceeded 100 degrees on several days.

The high on Tuesday was 82 degrees, with 86 degrees forecast for a high today, according to the National Weather Service.
