ROSEBUD — Services for Woodson Lee Bray, 75, of Chilton will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Chilton with the Rev. Jason Burden and Rev. Shelton Markum officiating.
Mr. Bray died Tuesday, Aug. 19, in a Waco hospital.
He was born July 15, 1933, to Carolyn and Buddy Bray in Chilton. He graduated from Chilton High School in 1952. He married Bobbie Lane of Cheotah, Okla., on Jan. 14, 1955, in Chilton. He served in the U.S. Army, worked for Cameron Mills and at the Bellmead State Bank and retired from the Thomas Connaly Veterans Hospital nursing staff in Marlin after more than 20 years of service.
He was instrumental in establishing the first rural water and sewer system in Texas. On May 26, 2001, he married Martha Lawson Killgore in Chilton. He was a foster parent. He bred and raised AKC Miniature Schnauzers. He was a board member and served as secretary/treasurer of the Chilton Water Supply and Sewer Service. He was a lifelong member of the First Baptist Church of Chilton; where he served as deacon and was also a member of the Chilton Pirate Quarterback Club. He was preceded in death by his first wife; a daughter, Tammie Ann; and a granddaughter.
Survivors include his wife of Chilton; three sons, Timothy Bray of Rockwall, Mark Bray of Rowlett and John R. Killgore III of New Braunfels; six daughters, Kim Cowart of Waco, Shannon Pierce of Chilton, Vicky Killgore of Austin, Karan Killgore of Rosebud, Jennifer Killgore of New Home, and Andrea Hahn of Killeen; a brother, Thomas Allen Bray of Rosebud; 82 foster children; 23 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Chilton Building Fund or the Chilton Cemetery Association.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Cook-Gerngross-Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Rosebud.
