‘Taste’ will make a good evening out in the ‘Town’

Taste of the Town will present under one roof the best tastings of food, wines, beers and the joys of sax.

The Elision Saxophone Quartet will give a featured performance during the Temple Symphony Orchestra’s annual fund-raiser 4-7 p.m. Sept. 7 at the Azalee Marshall Cultural Activities Center, 3011 N. Third. Tickets are $35 presale and $40 at the door.

Tickets are available at the Cultural Activities Center, Von Music, Johnnie’s Cleaners, Compass Bank Belton and Salado Civic Center.

The Elision Saxophone Quartet performed at the inauguration ceremony for Texas Governor George W. Bush, the Texas State Capital Building for First Lady Laura Bush, and the Governor’s Mansion for former Texas Governor Ann Richards. Jazz, pop, classical and fusion music will be playing in every as guests are encouraged to roam throughout the CAC sampling.

Also playing will be Jazz Works, Damian Green Band, Sheryl Goodnight and Pam Bland, Temple College Faculty Duo, Chisholm Brass Quintet, Ritmo & Mas Percussion Group, James Flowers Quartet, and John and Mary Evelyn Pinno.

Dr. Stephen Crawford, on the music faculty at the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, is director for the Ritmo y Mas, an innovative percussion group. Chisholm Brass, composed of five local horn players, has been featured during TSO’s season offerings.

“Taste” will also include new features, including a beergarten. BJ’s Restaurant & Brewhouse will provide beers and pizza samples. Other nibbles will come from Cactus Jack’s Steakhouse, Casa Ole Restaurant & Cantina, Cheeves Bros. Steak House, Crab Daddy’s, El Chico Mexican Restaurant, HEB Bakery & Deli, Hilton Garden Inn, Jason’s Deli, Nifty’s 50’s & 60’s Cafe, Sam’s Club Bakery & Deli, Shilo Inn, Simply Sweet, Sorge’s Italian Restaurant, Starbuck’s Coffee Shop, Subway Sandwiches & Salads and Wildflower Country Club.
