James McGlothlin

GATESVILLE — Services for James Roy McGlothlin, 77, of Temple will be 4 p.m. Thursday at Scott’s Funeral Home in Gatesville with Lloyd Hall officiating.

Burial will be in Gatesville Masonic Cemetery.

Mr. McGlothlin died Monday, Aug. 25, in Temple.

He was born Aug. 4, 1931, in Coryell County to James Phillip and Dewey Adaline Cummings McGlothlin. After high school in Gatesville, he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After his discharge he began his career at Rocketdyne in McGregor for 19 years. In 1975, he became the city secretary in Gatesville retiring in 1995 after 20 years with the city. He then was on the Gatesville City Council and was a past member of the Gatesville Exchange Club. He married Margaret Hancock on Nov. 3, 1955, in College Station. He was a member of Gatesville Church of Christ for many years.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Allan McGlothlin of Cleburne; two daughters, Betsy Clark of Pearl, and Leah Hodges of Temple; a brother, Ronnie McGlothlin of San Marcos; a sister, Jo Marie Singletary of Arlington; and six grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Gatesville Church of Christ, 2417 E. Main, Gatesville 76528.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
